Founded in 1987, SMART is a private company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with offices in Germany, Japan, China, New York City, Chicago IL and Washington DC. Most of SMART's products are assembled in Canada. SMART Technologies is both the industry pioneer and market-segment leader in easy-to-use interactive whiteboards and other group collaboration tools. Using SMART products, groups can access and share the information they need to meet, teach, train and present regardless of distance. SMART products include the family of award-winning SMART Board interactive whiteboards, interactive pen displays, interactive digital signage, wireless slates and software. SMART has been issued and maintains a broad portfolio of patents with numerous other U.S., Canadian and foreign patents pending.
Smart Technologies was on the lookout  for a vendor to create assessment questions that will be a part of their product. Comtel came up with a solution for them by creating assessment questions for the K-12 curriculum. Lesson Activities were provided by Smart and based on those lessons, subject matter experts of Comtel created assessments. Now this is an on-going project with Comtel creating assessment questions for nearly all subjects across all grades.

Prior to creating assessments Comtel’s subject matter experts did an extensive study of the North American K-12 curriculum for all subjects across all the grades. Their study was then mapped with the respective SME & product manager from Smart. Sample questions were exchanged between Smart and Comtel. Templates for assessment were provided and also the delivery guidelines and schedule was decided.
